Message From our Pastor

Message from the Pastoral Region Administrator

Saint Brigid’s Catholic Primary School/Good Samaritan Catholic Primary School is part of the Lumen Christi Pastoral Region that was established by Bishop Peter Ingham in July 2010. The Pastoral Region, also known as the Catholic Parishes of Wollongong, incorporates the Cathedral of Saint Francis Xavier, Wollongong, the Co-Cathedral of Saint John Vianney, Fairy Meadow, the Church of Mater Dolorosa, Balgownie and, the Parish Church of Saint Brigid, Gwynneville.

Catholic Education is but one of the many aspects of Catholic life in the Lumen Christi Pastoral Region. Our two sister-schools – Saint Brigid’s and Good Samaritan – both provide quality learning in the Catholic context. The children learn about many wonderful things. Most especially, they learn about the love of God. All the members of our school communities are called to be the bearers of “the Light of Christ” as they discover the depth of God’s unconditional love for the world.

We are proud to promote the partnership between the home, the school and the parish. When each takes their rightful role in the education of the child then, indeed, we advance the integral development of every child enrolled in our schools.

A key component of this development is the education in the faith. Our school communities assist the pastoral region in preparing the children for the reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. Our schools are places of prayer. They are inclusive places where all are made feel welcome and safe.
